Manuel Antonio National Park

Located just a few miles South of the port town of Quepos, Manuel Antonio is a small micro community within the rich rainforest atmosphere. The Manuel Antonio area begins as you start on the Main Road ascending the first hill as you leave behind the commerce town of Quepos and wind towards a resort haven with beautiful scenic views.

Created in 1972, Manuel Antonio National Park is Costa Rica’s smallest National Park at 683 hectares and is one of the world’s most bio-diverse areas. Manuel Antonio National Park is home to184 species of birds and 109 species of mammals and reptiles. Bird species include brown pelican, laughing falcon, black-collared hawk, white ibis, white-bellied chachalaca, blue-crowned manakin, fiery-billed aracari, green kingfisher and jacana.  Animal species include raccoon, pizote, pacas, porcupine, gray squirrel, white nosed coaties, the two toe sloth, the three toe sloth, the white face capuchin monkey, the howler monkey and the mono tití squirrel monkey.

Manuel Antonio is one of the most popular destinations in Costa Rica, with its beautiful golden sandy beaches in a lush rainforest canopy backdrop.  In 1989 The New York Sunday Times voted Manuel Antonio Beach one of the five best beaches in the world.

There are 5 beaches within the park.  Playa Manuel Antonio, tucked into a deep cove within the Park is the most popular beach because of its white sands and calm water.

       

Las Palmas Condos are only 3 miles from Manuel Antonio National Park & Beach
World renowned beach.  Very calm for swimming without fear of waves.

Admission to the Park is about $6.00 US for the day
Nature Tours in the Park include Bird watching, Monkeys and other creatures of the Rainforest.
There are some Picnic Tables, Public bathrooms - but bring your own toilet paper.
Park Rangers Patrol the National Park and ensure that the Monkeys are not fed.

 

How to get to Manuel Antonio Beach and National Park  from the Las Palmas Condos
Public Bus - Buses between Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park  run every 30 minutes from 6 AM to 9 PM. The cost is about 105 colones.  The Bus Stop is on the corner of the cross road by the steel bus shelter.
Taxis - can be hailed on the main road and run about 1500 colones to Manuel Antonio.  Returning is usually cheaper.
