Spanish Language School & TEFL

Many of my guests have combined their vacation holiday with taking a class to learn or improve their Spanish. I’ve listed some of the Spanish Language schools in Manuel Antonio. To make it easier to locate their proximity to Las Palmas, their respected numbers are identified on the Map Page:

Local Live Entertainment

For the small size of Manuel Antonio, there are some exceptional quality entertainers. These artists will have you tapping your feet, clapping, singing and swaying. They probably all came for a short vacation and decided this is the place to stay. Here are some of the artists I have enjoyed listening to and wouldn’t feel my trip was complete without going and listening again.

Lance Bennett plays the harmonica wonderfully and produced 4 CDs. Lance has played with some of the great artists. Have a listen to:

Fuzzy Rojas has a fantastic Jazz voice. Fuzzy sings some of the standards. She has composed songs and in 2007 made her first CD. One of my favorites of Fuzzy’s jazz songs is Cyndi Lauper’s, Time After Time. She is accompanied by Leo and plays at Gato Negro on Monday nights. On my last visit in September 2007 David a guest performer who plays the flute was invited to sit in for a few songs. His table was beside ours and when I told him I enjoyed his playing. One of the things he said was "If Fuzzy was playing in Las Vegas she'd be sold out every night."

Leo is another great artist. He plays lovely acoustic guitar and performs the music of Santana, Gypsy Kings, Buena Vista Social Club. Leo also compiled a CD of his songs which is worth purchasing. Tuesday to Saturday you can listen to him at Si Como No.

BenJamin plays the electric guitar and sings the 60’s protest songs and the 70’s rock ‘n’ roll. He writes some of his own Lyrics. You can catch him Wednesdays at Dos Locos and Saturday at one of the Manuel Antonio beach Bars. BenJamin has a great web page with samples of his music. He has compiled a CD. Bambu Jam Restaurant & Bar - Live Entertainment on Friday Nights. Good food and very busy on week-ends. Located walking distance between Las Palmas and Quepos.

Club Banana - My guests went on a week-end and said - We went to Club Banana for karaoke (what a riot!) Best Tico Atmosphere - in the Zona Americana, East of the Marina.
